Abstract

The study aimed to demonstrate the effectiveness of design management in achieving a competitive advantage for a sample of companies operating in the city of NEOM in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and to identify the concept of design management within three levels: strategic, tactical and operational. The study population consisted of fifteen companies operating in the NEOM project. The random sample method was followed and consisted of (100) individuals from architects, project managers, administrators and consultants working in companies operating in the NEOM project. The questionnaire tool was used and distributed electronically. (70) questionnaires were answered, (20) of which were incomplete or missing, which makes (50) questionnaires suitable for the study. The most important results of the study were the existence of a relationship between the effectiveness of design management at the strategic level in achieving a competitive advantage for the NEOM project, through the management of companies operating in the project. The study also confirmed the existence of a relationship between the effectiveness of design management at the tactical level in achieving a competitive advantage for the NEOM project through the management of companies operating in the project. Finally, the study confirmed the existence of a relationship between the effectiveness of design management at the operational level in achieving a competitive advantage. For the NEOM project through the management of the companies operating in the project, the study recommended the need to work on paying attention to design systems, as they provide order and organize work within the project for various activities and operations, and the need to formulate a plan with specific features to consolidate design management practices and mechanisms for their implementation and importance in the work of construction and building companies operating in the NEOM project
